Feed Pump Turbine Testing

As an extension of existing turbine overspeed testing capabilities exhibited by the TTOD and TCTD devices, ILD has recently developed a device capable of testing the mechanical overspeed systems of the large turbines used to drive feed pumps in some nuclear plants. The Feed Pump Overspeed Testing Device is capable of delivering 750 hp of power to the turbine using three 250 hydraulic motors.  This is a field deploy-able unit, and the testing can be provided as a turnkey service to the plant.

The purpose of this device is to eliminate the feed pump turbine overspeed test as an outage critical path activity. Use of this device removes the need for process steam, allowing overspeed testing to take place at any time during a refueling outage.
