Our project experience includes both pressurized (PWR) and boiling water (BWR) type reactors, and we have performed services for plants which were designed and built by nearly all possible combinations of reactor designer and architect / engineer in the United States. Our familiarity with operating nuclear power plants and the idiosyncrasies of specific plant designs is unmatched in the US.  ILD has often been retained to independently verify technical product, as well as to integrate the many disparate evaluations required for a large project into a cohesive, technically accurate deliverable for the customer.  Our recent experience includes 8 such power uprate projects, including 5 BWR and 3 PWR plants.

Project Management

We provide experienced personnel for project management services, including scope, scheduling, and budget control for major outage scope including Reactor Recirc Motor replacement, Reactor System Chemical Decon and Generator Rewind projects.

Turbine Rotor Replacement

Bid spec preparation and reviews have been performed for several utilities.  As part of a HP rotor replacement project associated with a 17.6% Power Uprate, ILD established baseline thermal performance of the unit, including the generation losses associated with each individual component.  Emphasis was placed on main condenser, feedwater heaters, and HP/LP turbine sections.  We established a testing methodology to ensure turbine warranties were met.   Additionally, ILD served as interface between the utility and the turbine supplier to ensure that all contract related testing matters are resolved.  

Power Uprate

We perform engineering and technical reviews for BOP, NSSS, and I&C design, including uprate feasibility studies.  We have provided services for Appendix K Uprates, Extended Power Uprates (EPU), and online uprates.
